A couple weeks ago, I asked you all to share your favorite affordable alternatives to high-end skincare that I haven’t covered yet. A follower recommended these two, so of course I had to grab them and put them to the test!

I totally get why the Clinique Moisture Surge has a cult following. Like most gel moisturizers, it’s super lightweight, dries down quickly, and feels airy on the skin. It looked flawless under my makeup and kept my skin hydrated for hours—even with my dry skin. The only thing that stood out to me was the texture: it has the most silicone-y feel of any gel moisturizer I’ve tried. Not a dealbreaker, but definitely noticeable if you’re sensitive to that kind of finish.

Y'all know I’m a Heimish fan, so I was excited to finally try this—and it did not disappoint! I loved how cooling it felt, even more so than the Clinique. I actually burned my skin a bit with a chemical exfoliant (oops), and this was so soothing and gentle to use afterward. It is scented, but I found the fragrance light and not overpowering at all. Plus, the tub is huge for the price—seriously, what a steal!

Both are great options if you’re looking for a lightweight, hydrating gel moisturizer. Clinique is perfect if you want something classic and reliable under makeup, while Heimish is my new go-to for a refreshing, soothing boost—especially in the summer or after a little too much exfoliation.
