This Not That: Father's Day Ideas

Shopping for my husband is a struggle. He’s the kind of guy who just buys whatever he wants, which makes gift-giving nearly impossible. And I’ll admit—I’m not exactly known for my stellar gift-giving skills, so that combo? Brutal.
But my all-time favorite gift story happened right here in Nashville. I wandered into a local shop, determined to find something for him, and ended up in the men’s section where I spotted a pair of Barefoot Dreams shorts. They looked a little short, but I figured it was just the trendy cut and grabbed them.
When he tried them on, he immediately said, “These are SO short.” I told him that was the style now and that he clearly wasn’t fashion-forward enough to get it. He shrugged and wore them—for a full 24 hours. Later, we looked them up online and realized… they were women’s shorts. He admitted they were a bit snug, but the fabric was so soft he didn’t even care. If that doesn’t speak to the magic of Barefoot Dreams, I don’t know what does. Watching him confidently stroll around in what were basically booty shorts? Iconic. I still laugh about it.
Surprisingly, the rest of my gift picks have been solid. Our JBL speaker lasted for years before mold finally took it down (gross), so we replaced it with a new one. His gym shorts are top-tier in quality. He’s been loving a weighted vest for workouts lately. And since neither of us really drinks, a tea kettle turned out to be a thoughtful little gift he never would’ve bought for himself.
Oh—and fun fact: he uses our red light therapy device more than I do!
