Okay, it might seem like I’m picking on Fenty—but I swear I’m not! I actually love most of their lip products. But this contour stick? Sadly, it just didn’t work for me.

Now, keep in mind: I’m 37. My skin is super dry, and this formula felt like dragging a rock across sandpaper. It didn’t glide on like I hoped, and blending it out? Let’s just say I’m glad I’ve been hitting arm day—because it took some serious effort.

On the flip side, I recently gave the Maybelline Lifter Stix a try (even though it had been sitting in my drawer for months), and wow. She’s pigmented, so start light—but the blend is smooth, and it makes contouring easy for us millennials without turning muddy. Took a little trial and error, but now I’m hooked.
