Let’s be real—who in their right mind is dropping $300 on a hairbrush? I get it. It sounds wild. But here’s the thing: if you actually take care of a Mason Pearson, it’ll last you decades. This isn’t like shampoo you’re replacing every month. Over time, it really does pay for itself (even if the sticker shock is real).

And I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if you have thick, frizzy hair, this brush is a game-changer. It tames frizz, adds serious shine, and just makes your hair look healthier. Is it criminally expensive? Absolutely. But unfortunately, that’s the world we live in.

Now, I’ve tried a bunch of Amazon dupes, and honestly, most of them didn’t live up to the hype—except for this one from Shash. Out of all the alternatives, it’s the only one that actually reduced my frizz and gave my hair that same glossy finish. Just like the OG, though, it’s a little high-maintenance. You have to clean it regularly if you want it to last and keep working its magic.

Bottom line: If you want the Mason Pearson experience without the luxury price tag, the Shash brush is the closest I’ve found. But whichever you choose, treat it well and your hair will thank you!
