This Not That: Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant

If you’ve been here a while, you know I love a good BHA. Paula’s Choice basically set the standard — smooth skin, fewer blackheads, smaller-looking pores. It still performs and is a total texture‑smoothing powerhouse.
Then Walgreens dropped their own 2% BHA, and they weren’t subtle about the inspiration. Same 2% salicylic acid, similar pH, lightweight, fragrance‑free, alcohol‑free — the formulas even share several core ingredients. The overlap is real.
The price difference, though? Wild. Paula’s Choice runs around $37. Walgreens is about $12.49 and almost always on sale.
In practice, Paula’s Choice feels more luxe with that silky slip and instant glow. Walgreens is more watery and absorbs fast — different texture, but honestly? The results are shockingly similar. It unclogs, brightens, and smooths without the high price tag.
If you love Paula’s Choice for the experience, stick with it. But if you want similar results for way less, the Walgreens version is the dupe that actually dupes.
