This Not That: Dyson Air Wrap

I can always tell when someone’s used the Dyson Airwrap for their curls—and that’s not a compliment. Every time I use it, my hair ends up looking a bit frizzier with looser, less defined waves. That combo just doesn’t work for me, and honestly, it’s why I’ve grown to really dislike the tool.
My hair is super thick, so when I curl it with a traditional iron, I usually don’t have to touch it up for 3–4 days. But with the Airwrap? The curls barely last through the day. I could maybe overlook that if it were actually better for my hair, but I haven’t noticed any improvement. The real changes in my hair health come from my diet and treatments—not from this tool.
Now, when it comes to curling irons, the GHD has been my ride-or-die for years. I wish I had a more affordable recommendation, but I’ve tried the cheaper options—Hot Tools, Conair, even BaByliss—and none of them compare. I even gave the T3 a shot, but ended up returning it and going back to my GHD.
I think we all want the dryer-curler combo to be the dream tool, but the reality is—it’s just not there yet. It takes longer, and the results don’t justify the effort. So my advice? Keep your dryer and curler separate, and invest in a high-quality, durable curling iron instead.
AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD—do not buy or use the round brush hair dryers. I had one for just two months, and when my stylist saw the state of my hair, she made me toss it on the spot. She immediately put me on a 3-month K18 treatment plan to repair the damage. It was BAD.
