This Not That: Kosas Revealer Concealer

Well folks, it's been a JOURNEYYYYY — because so many concealers are genuinely so bad lol.

My OG was Dior. Used it for years, no notes. But once I started This Not That, I made it my mission to work through the concealer aisle and see what else was actually out there. Reader, there were a lot of misses.

Kosas Revealer was one I tried and really liked. Skincare-forward, hydrating, that natural finish everyone talks about. But at $32 a tube, I wanted to see if I could find the same feel for less.

Enter NYX Bare With Me Concealer Serum. This is the closest formula I've found to Kosas. Same skincare-hybrid feel — goes on more like a serum than a traditional concealer. Hydrating, lightweight, blends into the skin instead of sitting on top of it. No spackle look. It genuinely melts in. And I'm not the only one saying it — the reviews I dug into echoed the exact same thing. One warning though — the smallest amount goes a really long way. Like a tiny dot under each eye and that's it. If you go in with a normal concealer amount, you will regret it. Learn from me.

Quick note on shade range because it matters here. NYX has 17 shades and the undertones run warm across the lineup, so if you're neutral or cool, you may have to test a couple. I'm slightly warm-toned, so it worked in my favor and I matched on the first try. Kosas has 28 shades but the mediums lean yellow — so warm-toned folks tend to do well with both. Cool-toned? Kosas will probably serve you better.

On wear — honestly, they're a wash. Both need to be set (all serum-y concealers do, don't let anyone tell you otherwise), but once they are, they hold up all day. $12 vs $32. Same skincare-forward feel. Nearly identical formula. Kosas is a great product and I'm not trashing it — but NYX is doing the same job for less than half the price.

Not mad about it.
